August's Random Ramblings

  • While in Colorado Abby had a sneezing fit and promptly informed me that she was allergic to the mountains!
  • While Abby was playing outside with her friend Declan, his mom Bre wanted to show them something and asked Abby if she wanted to come inside. She looked at Bre and said, "Well, did you ask your Dad if its okay?"

Eldorado Canyon

In between Andrew leaving Florida, house hunting in Arizona and going to his training for EWI in San Antonio, he was able to spend a few days with us in Colorado. One day we decided to drive to Boulder and go to Eldorado Canyon. Believe it or not, I never went there the entire time I was at school in Boulder! I wish I had though because it was absolutely breathtaking! We drove into the canyon a little ways and parked then ate our picnic lunch right next to the creek. After we were done eating we splashed around in the creek and Ana and Abby even caught a few fish! We packed up then headed to a kid friendly trail for a little hike. We saw a lot of wildlife and watched some of the rock climbers (it is one of the best rock climbing places in the world)! It was a wonderful day, followed by a trip into Boulder for some delicious 8cal/oz ice cream!!! Yummy!!!

Butterfly Pavilion

The other day I decided to take the girls to the Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster. It is a bit of a drive, but we were trying to find a way to kill time till Andrew got here that evening. While this is something I wouldn't do all the time, it kept us entertained for the afternoon and I am glad we decided to go. Abby really enjoyed seeing all the butterflies and looking at some of the other hands on exhibits and seeing the other bugs. Both Abby and Olivia liked the little playground area and we spent quite a long time there. After the pavilion we went and had lunch followed by a trip to Target. We had perfect timing because about 15 minutes after we got home, Andrew arrived from Florida! The girls were thrilled to see him and that was definitely the highlight of the day!!

Feeling a star fish

Out in the pavilion where the butterflies are just flying around. If you stay still they will land on you which is supposed to be good luck. There were so many beautiful butterflies!!

Posing for the camera
Abby spotting some butterflies. She was in awe and loved finding the brightly colored butterflies, especially the pink ones!
Abby practicing her photography skills. I guess she is a bit sick of always being pictured :-)
Playing on the "honeycomb" climber....Olivia LOVED this (so did Abby), they could have spent all day crawling and climbing around on this!

One of the other play areas....Abby kept telling me it was their hideout!

Ice Cream Social

A few weeks ago we headed up to the community pool for an ice cream social. They have them every few weeks and Abby has always wanted to get her face painted, but the lines are always sooo long. This time we made it a point to get there early and "only" waited for about 30 minutes and Abby finally got her face painted. She was such a good girl while we were waiting in line, she didn't complain once! I guess a free ice pop helps the time go by faster! She was also able to go in the bouncy castle, make a craft and dance to the live music, Olivia even got into the dancing! Its a great way to spend the evening!
